6 Easy And Simple Ways To Create MORE Art

I know you're short on time, life can be so busy! But the only way to get better is to make more time to make more art.

Throughout my artist journey, I've learn a few ways to help me consistently make art - and in return make more art.

Here are 6 easy ways you can make more art!

1. Figure out the days and times you will make art

What days are best for you to create? What times? When are you the most productive and creative?

What times or days should you avoid (low energy, distraction, etc.)

For me, it's mornings between nine and noon. So I try to create during this time and leave my afternoons for other types of work.

2. Schedule these days and times in your calendar

I use Google calendar! Each Sunday or Monday I schedule out my week and this includes the times I will be painting. I try to schedule my painting time between nine and noon at least two days a week (more if my schedule allows).

I also schedule painting time for the weekend and evenings when I think I'll have time.

3. Don't change your schedule!

Once your creating time is scheduled into your calendar, try your best to not change it! And try to create during those same days and times every single week. This will help you get into a routine and create consistently.

4. Keep a designated workspace

Have a designated space where you'll create. It can be a desk, room in your house, the corner of your bedroom, etc.

Have your art supplies out and ready so when you do create, you won't have to look or dig through your supplies, they'll already be out waiting for you!

And when you're done, keep them out or organized for next time.

5. Make a creating library

Your creating library is where you'll keep all your art ideas! This can be a journal, sketchbook, Instagram collection, YouTube playlist of tutorials, Pinterest board, etc.

This will help you make art consistently since you'll already have a library of ideas waiting for you. You won't have to spend the time to figure out what to paint.

And sometimes we don't create art because we don't know what to create! A library will help us stay consistent.

6. Participate in art challenges

Art challenges are nice because you don't have to think of what to paint! If you're having trouble figuring out what to paint and you don't feel like painting anything in your creating library, this is another option.

Art challenges are also a great way to meet other artists! Challenges usually have a hashtag that you can use when you post your art and visit to see other artists who are doing the same challenge.
